Zebra Printer Case Study – Supporting a Distribution Business in York

From an urgent Zebra printer repair to an ongoing Auto-ID partnership

A distribution business in the York area originally contacted Precision Peripherals when one of its Zebra label printers developed a fault. The printer was skipping labels, leaving the customer unable to produce labels correctly and disrupting an important part of its operation.

The Initial Problem

The customer needed the Zebra printer working reliably again, so initially approached us for an ad-hoc engineering callout.

A Precision Peripherals engineer attended the customer's site, investigated the label-skipping problem and resolved the immediate fault.

During the visit, our engineer also cleaned and serviced the printer and addressed an ongoing print-quality issue. The objective wasn't simply to get the machine printing again, but to leave the equipment operating reliably and producing labels to the required standard.

From Emergency Repair to Maintenance Contract

Following the successful repair and service, the customer decided to place the Zebra printer onto a maintenance contract with Precision Peripherals.

This changed the relationship from an individual break-fix callout to ongoing support, giving the customer access to our engineering expertise when required and helping them maintain the reliability of their Zebra equipment.

Supporting the Wider Auto-ID Operation

As our relationship with the customer developed, we were able to help with more than its Zebra printer.

The customer now purchases barcode scanners and mobile computers through Precision Peripherals, allowing us to support more of the Auto-ID technology used within its distribution operation.

We also supply the customer's thermal-transfer ribbons and labels, providing an ongoing source for the consumables needed to keep its label-printing operation running.

More Than a Zebra Printer Supplier

This is a good example of how we work with businesses in York. A relationship that began with a single faulty Zebra printer has developed into ongoing maintenance, Auto-ID equipment supply and recurring consumables.

For businesses operating in distribution, warehousing and logistics, Precision Peripherals can help with the wider solution — from Zebra printers, scanners and mobile computers to onsite engineering, maintenance contracts, ribbons and labels.
